Given the electoral forcing organized by President Nkurunziza on 29 June 2015, civil society organizations involved in the campaign "Stop the third term" of President Pierre Nkurunziza inform the national and international community that:
- Civil society organizations condemn the electoral forcing made by President Nkurunziza in as much as it is a dead-end path taken in total disregard of the Arusha Agreement, the Constitution and the relevant decisions taken by the East African Community and the African Union ;
- The Burundian civil society deeply regret that the elections were held in camera, without independent observers, after intentional destruction and abusive ban on independent media; which made it inevitable massive frauds;
- The Burundian civil society bitterly notes that the elections held on the 29 June 2015 constitute the very implementation of the President Nkurunziza Constitutional coup and the burial of all the achievements of the young Burundian democracy;
- Civil society Organizations are deeply concerned by the threats against opponents to the third term for President Nkurunziza and denounces a plan of extermination of the inhabitants and the destruction of neighbourhoods actively involved in the demonstrations and condemn the summary executions of opponents to the third term by state agents;5
- Civil society Organizations strongly condemn the police attack on 1 July 2015 in Mutakura which has made a dozen of deaths. She is outraged by reports that the attack was led by General Adolphe Nshimirimana, who is merely an official in charge of missions at the Presidency of the Republic and does not fall within any chain of command of the security forces;
- The Burundian Civil Society congratulates the majority of Burundians whose maturity has proven that they understood that an election which is held without fair competition, under the influence of violence and intimidation, is the crackdown of democracy. They therefore opted to boycott the elections which is, at the end of the day, a failed appointment in the history of Burundi;
- The Burundian civil society declares that it will not recognize the results or institutions that would be derived from a truncated election in many respects; she strongly believes that Nkurunziza and his accomplices will be held accountable for their acts before the people of Burundi and the future;
- Civil society Organizations are committed to dialogue, provided that any solution leading to the third term of President Pierre Nkurunziza be excluded and calls all the living forces of the nation to come together now to find a democratic alternative to the current crisis;
- The Burundian civil society finally calls on the international community to consider, under the responsibility to protect, to send rapid intervention in Burundi to protect people threatened by President Nkurunziza who literally became the leader of the militia Imbonerakure , to disarm the militia, arrest the leaders of the militia and prevent the commission of international crimes.
